Lockdown Extension: FG Hints On Reopening NYSC Camps

Hours after President Muhammadu Buhari announced the extension of the second phase of eased lockdown by another four weeks, the government hinted on reopening National Youth Service Corps, NYSC camps across the country.

The development was disclosed on Thursday, August 6 by the National Coordinator of the Presidential Task Force (PTF) on COVID-19, Dr. Sani Aliyu.

According to Aliyu during a press briefing in Abuja, yesterday noted that the NYSC orientation camps may be reopened in the next phase of the eased lockdown.

“We have advised NYSC to start planning ahead of resumption in future phases, but not within this current phase of the response,” Aliyu noted.

He added, “We will work closely with them to design policies that may allow this to happen in the future,”

Naija News recalls that the NYSC management on March 18, 2020, suspended the 2020 Batch A Stream 1 orientation, following the outbreak of COVID-19 pandemic in the country.

Meanwhile, President Muhammadu Buhari’s led administration said it has granted all commercial banks in the country permission to operate fully.

According to the federal government in a statement on Thursday, August 6, banks can now open all their branches.
