Some Nigerians under the aegis of the #RevolutionNow movement took to the streets of some major cities in the country on Wednesday to protest against the actions of the Nigerian government.

The protesters, carrying various placards with different inscriptions took to the streets to call the government to action over cases of corruption, insecurity, unemployment, and other issues affecting the populace.

As observed by Naija News, the convener of the protest, Omoyele Sowore was not physically present at the protests, but others took to the streets to register their displeasure and call on the government to take urgent action.

A member of the movement and lawyer, Pelumi Olajengbesi, called for the scrapping of the 1999 constitution as well as the sack of the current service chiefs.

He added that all political prisoners should also be released.

In his words: “The 1999 constitution is a fraudulent document, scrap it and let the people make their own constitution.

“We call for the abolition of tuition fees in universities and secondary schools.

“President Buhari must stop the killings in the country by sacking all the incompetent service chiefs.

“Government must stop all estimated billing by the power companies, provide pre-paid meters for free, and communities must have the right to audit the electricity bills they get, and review the licenses of all discos.

“Free all political prisoners now, including El Zakzaky and his wife and create employment for the youth.”

A combined team of security forces has also been deployed to the streets to forestall the breakdown of law and order.
