The Edo State Deputy Governor, Philip Shaibu, on Tuesday, noted that some lawmakers in the state have been mobilised to buy people’s votes during the upcoming governorship election.

Shaibu stated this while speaking in Ibillo, Akoko Edo Local Government Area of the state, while addressing a campaign rally, he, however, did not disclose their identity.

The deputy governor also stated that the state government has made the payment of pension a priority.

He added that pensioners in the state no longer wear black or take to the streets to protest because the government had made their welfare a priority.

“Our first citizens no longer take to the streets to protest the non-payment of their pension and entitlements.”

“They no longer wear black to protest. Gov. Godwin Obaseki has taken them off the streets.”

“Some lawmakers have been mobilised to buy your votes, please use your Permanent Voters Card (PVC) to throw them out,” he said.
