Why JAMB Doesn't Like People Giving Awards To UTME Candidates With Highest Scores - Oloyede

The Registrar of the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB), Prof. Ishaq Oloyede, has bagged the prestigious Academia in Information Technology Professional (AITP) Award.

The development was contained in a weekly publication from the office of the registrar which was made available on the official microblogging account of the Nigerian entrance examination board for higher institutions on Monday, August 3.

Naija News understands that the award was presented to Oloyede at the 2020 Virtual International Conference on Information Technology in Education and Development (ITED), as a recognition of his outstanding performance in office as well as his immense contributions to the development of Information Technology in Nigeria.

Along with the Ogun State-born and the former Vice-Chancellor of the University of Ilorin, six other prominent Nigerians who have distinguished themselves in the development of ICT in the country were also conferred with Awards by the AITP.

Naija News also understands that AITP is an affiliate group with the Nigeria Computer Society (NCS) aiming at promoting quality research in education especially in the fields of Computer Science, Information Technology, and other relevant fields.

The academic body is the umbrella for all IT scholars in Universities, Polytechnics, Monotechnics, Colleges of Education, Research Institutes, and Academia in Parastatals and Ministries was birthed three years ago. Interestingly, Naija News understands.

Speaking at the occasion, the President of AITP, Professor Afolayan Obiniyi, warned that any private schools not registered for WASSCE but found operating under the cover of the partial reopening would face the full wrath of the law.

Meanwhile, Governor Douye Diri led government of Bayelsa State has stated modalities already put in place for the reopening of schools to final year students to write their examinations.
