Edo Election: Court Delivers Ruling In Favour Of Ize-Iyamu, Audu

The governorship candidate of the All Progressives Congress on Monday received more support after the deputy speaker of the Edo State Assembly, Yekini Idiaye and four other lawmakers endorsed Pastors Osagie Ize-Iyamu ahead of the September 19 election.

Apart from Idiaye, the other legislators are Emmanuel Agbaje (APC Akoko-Edo II constituency), Nosayaba Okunbor (Orhionmwon East constituency), Dumez Ugiagbe (Ovia Northeast I constituency) and Vincent Uwadiae (Ovia Northeast constituency II).

Ize-Iyamu will be contesting against the Edo State Governor, Godwin Obaseki, who will be running on the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party and other governorship candidates in the state.

The action of the lawmakers brings to 17 the number of Edo APC members of the Edo state house of the assembly who have chosen to remain in their party and refused to defect with Governor Obaseki to the PDP.

Meanwhile, the state Deputy Governor, Philip Shaibu, on Monday accused the former National Chairman of the APC, Adams Oshiomhole, of trying to run for the third term through Ize-Iyamu’s candidacy.
