Bishop David Oyedepo, the General Overseer of the Living Faith Church, a.k.a Winners Chapel, has said fire would fall the next time there is an attempt to close churches.

Naija News reports that religious centres have been closed since the outbreak of Coronavirus (COVID-19) in Nigeria.

But Babajide Sanwo-Olu on Saturday announced the reopening of religious centres, restaurants and schools in Lagos State.

The Lagos govt fixed August 14, 2020, for the reopening of restaurants in Lagos State at 50 per cent capacity.

He also explained that schools will resume on August 3 to enable exit students to write their examinations.

Speaking further, Sanwo-Olu disclosed that worship centres (Churches and Mosques) will reopen effective August 7

Reacting on Sunday, Bishop Oyedepo expressed anger over the decision to close down churches in the first place.

He said: “God made us smarter than our enemies and we have not been fooled.

“It is only in this church that we heal COVID-19 patients, the government would not have asked me if they should close down the church.

“The next time anybody attempts to close down the church fire will fall.”

Oyedepo added that very soon the world will realise that they have been fooled by the devil.

“Very soon the world will come to a point where they would say we have been fooled because the devil that is fooling the world has the capacity but thank God we in this church have not been fooled,” Oyedepo said.

Meanwhile, Pastor Tunde Bakare, the founder of the Citadel Global Community Church (CGCC), has warned against the reopening of churches as directed by the Lagos State Govt.

He said: “I have to appeal to you once again, please keep safe and do your best to stay alive. Do not let anyone, whether religious leader or governmental leader, to drive you like a sheep to the slaughter. If they (the government and the disease control authorities) said that the month of August is going to be the peak of the infection, why should they ask people to rush in (re-open the churches) again?

“Please keep safe and do your best to keep alive by keeping all the necessary rules. We know that by the grace of God this pandemic like the others before it has an expiry date. It shall not see our end. We shall see its end in the mighty name of Jesus.”
