NCPC: Wise People Do Not Chase After Positions – CAN President

The President of the Christian Association of Nigeria (NAN), Pastor Samson Ayokunle, on Thursday, July 30 lamented about some persons in the country been desperate for positions only for personal benefit.

According to the Christian leader during the thanksgiving service held in honour of the new Executive Secretary, Nigeria Christian Pilgrim Commission (NCPC), Yakubu Pam, people who are wisdom-filled do not chase after positions just for burden sake.

The clergy added that many a time, some of these set of people focuses on the paraphernalia involved in the offices they are after, accept the appointment and thereafter fail woefully.

He said, “If you see somebody doing all he can to occupy a position, know that he or she is either looking for self-glory or what he or she would benefit from it, not what he or she would offer”.

“We know that without your own effort God put you in this position because you did not lobby for it. We urge you to do your best without disappointing God nor those who put you in this position. May the Lord help you,” Ayokunle admonished Pam.

The CAN leader again urged Pam to prioritise God in his affairs, be courageous to take the right steps and be a humble servant leader.

On his part, the new NCPC secretary assures the Christian community to be accountable for every deed and misdeeds of the agency.

He said, “I will do my best to fight corruption and redeem our image globally as well as the image of the agency. I would like to rebuild our image internationally due to our core responsibility of embarking on pilgrimages,”

Pam declared his plan on giving re-orientation of mindset to ministers of the gospel and other pilgrim heads. Adding that he would ensure a smooth relationship between Muslims and Christians across Nigeria to ensure mutual respect and unity

Naija News understands that Pam’s appointment by President Muhammadu Buhari kicks off from 26th June 2020.

Meanwhile, the suspended acting chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, Ibrahim Magu has reacted to the allegation of conspiracy, enrichment, and abuse of public office levelled against him.
