1. FG Announces When 2020 NECO, NABTEB Exams Will Start

The Federal Government of Nigeria has announced that the 2020 National Examination Council (NECO) exams will start on October 5.

The government also announced that the National Business and Technical Examination Board (NABTEB) examinations will start on September 21.

This was disclosed in a statement on Wednesday by the Minister of State for Education, Emeka Nwajuiba, after a two-day meeting with Chief Executives of examination bodies in the country.

2. 2023: Ohanaeze Attacks Mamman Daura, Insists On Zoning Of Presidency

Nnia Nwodo, the President-General of Igbo apex socio-political group, Ohanaeze Ndigbo, has reacted to statement attributed to Mallam Mamman Daura, a person considered to be the head of the presidential ‘cabal.

Naija News reported that Mamman Daura in an interview with BBC Hausa Service was quoted to have said that the election of the president in 2023 should not be based on zoning but on competence.

3. Oshiomhole Backing Ize-Iyamu An Insult To Edo People – Wike

Governor Nyesom Wike of Rivers state has said the people of Edo state are educated and won’t allow themselves to be deceived by former All Progressives Congress (APC) chairman, Adams Oshiomhole.

Speaking on a live programme on Wednesday, Wike said Oshiomhole making a u-turn to back Pastor Osagie Ize-Iyamu was an insult to Edo people.

4. Eid-El-Kabir: President Buhari Bans Visitors, To Celebrate Sallah At Home

President Muhammadu Buhari has announced that he would be celebrating the 2020 Eid-El-Kabir in Abuja with his family.

The President noted in a statement on Wednesday that the decision to remain in Abuja, rather than travel to his hometown of Daura in Katsina State is based on a recommendation from the Nigerian Supreme Council for Islamic Affairs (NSCIA), and the Presidential Task Force on COVID-19.

5. IGP Withdraws Policemen Attached To Magu

Inspector-general of police, Mohammed Adamu has withdrawn 20 zonal and sectional heads officers attached to the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC).

The officers were asked to report to the force headquarters in Abuja, where they are expected to be given new assignments.

6. Ondo 2020: Deputy Gov Ajayi To Dump PDP, Join Mimiko’s ZLP

The political intrigues surrounding the Ondo State Deputy Governor, Agboola Ajayi, is far from over as reports have emerged that he has concluded plans to join the Zenith Labour Party (ZLP).

With his decision to join the ZLP from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) a third force has therefore emerged in the October 10 Ondo governorship election in the state.

7. Loan Documents Reveal Nigeria At Risk Of Getting ‘Colonized’ By China Again – House Of Reps

The House of Representatives has raised an alarm in which it noted that Nigeria stands the risk of losing its sovereignty to China, based on some loan agreements.

The lower chamber of the National Assembly noted that some clauses in Nigeria’s loan agreement with China which has already been signed by the federal government puts Nigeria’s sovereignty at risk in the case of a default.

8. Federal Government Set To Receive $200m  Malabu Oil Deal – Malami

The Attorney-general of the federation, Abubakar Malami has rolled out the achievements of the ministry under his watch for the past one year.

Speaking during an open capacity building workshop and interactive session with judiciary correspondents in Abuja on Tuesday, the Country’s Minister of Justice said the ministry facilitated the recovery of $62bn arrears from oil companies as part of the Federation Government’s Production Sharing Agreement.

9. Akpabio Must Publish Names Of National Assembly Members Involved In NDDC Contracts – Reps insist

The Minister of Niger Delta Affairs, Godswill Akpabio, has been directed by the House of Representatives to publish the names of lawmakers who allegedly benefitted from the contract in the Niger Delta Development Commission.

Recall that the former Governor of Akwa Ibom State had accused some members of the National Assembly during investigation hearing of handling most contracts in the commission.

10. 13 Members Of Family Killed In Fresh Bandits Attack In Kogi

A community in Kogi State has been left in commotion after bandits stormed their community and killed 13 people from the same family.

According to reports reaching Naija News at this time, only one person from the family survived from the horrible attack which happened on Wednesday, July 28.

It was reported that the bandits raided Agudu, a community in Bassa, Kogi/Koton-Karfe LGA of Kogi State yesterday and left a family in pool of tears after killing 13 people from the house.
