Boko Haram insurgents on Monday attacked Magumeri town in Borno State.

Naija News reports that Magumeri is about 50km from Maiduguri, the state capital.

According to multiple security sources, the insurgents came into the village in trucks and on motorcycles around 2:15 pm, shooting sporadically.

“Magumeri is currently under Boko Haram attack, they came into the town few minutes ago and started shooting sporadically,” said one of the sources told SaharaReporters.

The attack comes days after the insurgents killed over 10 soldiers along the Maiduguri-Damboa Highway.

Naija News reports that 601 ex-Boko Haram terrorists were reintegrated by the Nigerian government into the society.

It was gathered that the ’repented’ insurgents were on Saturday, July 25 freed at the DRR Camp in Mallam Sidi, Gombe State.

The development was confirmed by the Coordinator of Operation Safe Corridor, Major General Bamidele Shafa.
