Residents of Tollgate area, along Abuja Road in Kaduna State, have been left in commotion after gunmen suspected to be bandits reportedly attacked their community on Sunday, July 26.

According to reports reaching Naija News at this time, the attack led to the death of a lawyer who works with the state Ministry of Justice.

Confirming the incident, a former commissioner of economic planning in the state, Timothy Gandu, who is also a sibling to the victim told newsmen that the gunmen shot his brother, Haro Gandu to death, while his wife and son were as well abducted.

Gandu revealed that the horrible event happened in the late hour of Sunday. He disclosed further that the bandits attacked his brother’s apartment through their window while he was resting with his family.

According to him, the deceased was shot on the shoulder, and then at the back while he was attempting to escape.  “It is the same narrative of criminality everywhere. Bandits invading communities and breaking into homes, killing and abducting people,” said Gandu.

He added, “They came to the house in the on Sunday night, pulled down the window and gain access. “They first shot him on the shoulder, he wanted to escaped, they followed him and shot him on the back and he died. They abducted his wife and son.”

However, attempt to hear from Mohammed Jalige, spokesman of the Kaduna state police command, was futile as his mobile lines were unavailable at the time this report was filed.

This is coming four days after Naija News reported that bandits attacked Kandawa, a community in Batsari Local Government Area of Katsina State and killed three people including a religious leader.
