Obaseki's Camp Reacts As INEC Recognises Orbih's PDP Faction

Governor Godwin Obaseki’s Commissioner for Environment and Sustainability, Dame Omua Oni-Okpako, has resigned her appointment.

Naija News reports that barely a month ago the Edo State Commissioner for Information and Orientation, Hon Paul Ohonbamu also resigned his position.

Governor Obaseki on Thursday swore-in another Communication and Orientation Commissioner Stewart Efe.

Although the reason Dame Omua Oni-Okpako’s resignation was not known at press time, a source in Government House confirmed her resignation yesterday.

The government official said they have been doubting Oni-Okpako’s total commitment to the Obaseki’s administration.

“I am also just hearing that but in recent times we have been noticing her non-committal attitude to this government”, the source said.

Naija News reports that Obaseki’s Chief of Staff, Taiwo Akerele, had in April resigned his appointment.

Recall that several Special Advisers, Senior Special Assistants and Special Assistants have also resigned their appointment with the government.

This online news platform reports that the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) had fixed September 19 for the Edo Guber election.

Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Obaseki will slug it out against Pastor Osagie Ize-Iyamu of the All Progressives Congress (APC).
