1. President Buhari Completes 3 Major Rail Projects Inherited From Previous Administrations

The presidency has confirmed that the administration of President Muhammadu Buhari has completed three major rail projects inherited from past administrations in the country.

Bashir Ahmad, the personal assistant on new media to President Buhari made the revelation in a tweet on his Twitter account on Wednesday afternoon.

2. Senate Seeks Extension Of Free Education To Senior Secondary Schools

A bill sponsored by the Senator representing Imo West Senatorial district, Rochas Okorocha, on Wednesday, passed the first reading on the floor of the senate.

The bill was targeted at extending free and compulsory education programme from the Junoir Secondary School 3 to the Senior Secondary School 3.

3. Boko Haram Kills Aide Workers In Borno

Boko Haram terrorists have killed five humanitarian workers who were recently kidnapped along Monguno area of Borno State.

Naija news learnt that the terrorist sect on wednesday through a video showing the assassination of five aide workers. The Aide workers are the staff of the Borno State Emergency Management Agency, Action Against Hunger, Rich International and International Rescue Committee.

4. Court Sets Date To Decide Sacking Of NDDC IMC, Restraining Akpabio

A High Court sitting in Abuja, Nigeria’s capital, has adjourned a suit demanding the sack of the Interim Management Committee of the Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC) to October 17.

Naija News reports that the suit was filed by two rights activists, Lucky Akharame and Edward Brisibe.

The Minister of Labour and Employment, Chris Ngige, while appearing before the Adhoc Committee of the House of Representatives on Wednesday, ridiculed a member of the House of Representatives, James Faleke.

The former Governor of Anambra State who was invited to answer questions over an alleged breach of the presidential directive described Faleke as “a small boy” and claimed he was “Tinubu’s mate”.

6. DSS Boss, Safiyanu Abba Slaps Airport Official In Abuja

The Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN) has accused the head of the Department of State Services (DSS) in Abuja airport, Mr. Safiyanu Abba, of slapping an aviation security officer.

According to FAAN, Abba prevented airport officials from further searching a visitor who walked through the metal detector and activated the alarm.

7. Buhari Gets Deadline To Submit 2021 Budget To NASS

Senate President Ahmed Lawan has asked President Muhammadu Buhari to submit the 2021 Appropriation Bill before the end of September 2020.

Lawan gave the deadline while referring the 2021-2023 Median Term Expenditure Framework and Fiscal Strategy Paper, which were submitted to lawmakers by Buhari on Tuesday to the relevant committees of the Senate for necessary legislative action.

Kayode Fayemi, Ekiti state governor, has announced that he tested positive for COVID-19 — after a third test.

This was disclosed by the governor on his Twitter account Wednesday morning.

9. Reps Order NCDC To Track Down MultiChoice CEO

The Federal House of Representatives has directed the Nigeria Centre for Diseases Control (NCDC) to locate and test the Chief Executive Officer of MultiChoice, Dr John Ugbe, for COVID-19.

Naija News reports that Hon. Idem Unyime (PDP-Akwa-Ibom) who heads the House’ Committee on Digital Satelite Television, DSTV Pay-As-You-Go Tariff Hike, gave the directive.

Hon. Unyime gave the directive on behalf of the House at the National Assembly Complex, Abuja.

Claims by the Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN) that an official of the Department of State Services (DSS) slapped an airport worker has been denied by the Service.

According to FAAN, Safiyanu Abba, head of the DSS at the Nnamdi Azikwe International Airport in Abuja, stopped an aviation officer from searching a visitor who set off a metal detector.

11. EFCC: Surprise As Magu Lists Presidential Villa, FIRS, Others Who Purchased Vehicles From Him

The suspended acting Chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), Ibrahim Magu has revealed that some of the cars and properties for which he is standing trial for their alleged mismanagement were bought off by the presidential villa and other ministries and agencies of the government.

Magu revealed this in a letter addressed to the Justice Ayo Salami-led panel titled, ‘Re: Alleged Case of Conspiracy, Enrichment, Abuse of Public Office and Other Infractions,’ where he explained what happened to some of the vehicles recovered by the EFCC under his watch.

12. Buhari Govt To Take Fresh N4.28trn Loan Against 2021

The 2021-2023 medium-term expenditure framework (MTEF) and fiscal strategy paper (FSP) presented before the National Assembly on Tuesday, July 21, revealed that the President Muhammadu Buhari’s led government may have to borrow N4.28 trillion to fund its budget deficit in the coming year.

According to the government, as revealed by the document, it will not be feasible to retain budget deficits within the 3% target set in the Fiscal Responsibility Act 2007.
