Seven Die, Many Injured As Petrol Tanker Explodes In Warri

At least seven persons were burnt to death, after a tanker carrying petroleum products exploded along the Warri-Benin expressway yesternight.

The Delta state police Command spokesman, Onome Onowakpoyeya, confirmed that the driver of the petroleum tanker was trying to maneuver a bad spot on the road when it fell and exploded.

“The driver of the truck was trying to maneuver a bad spot when it fell. The truck exploded when residents of the area rushed to the scene to scoop fuel” she said

She noted that officials of the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) and security agencie were present at the scene and have been assisting to carry the corpses, as well as rush other injured persons to a hospital in Oghara community.
