Former President Goodluck Jonathan has arrived Bamako, Mali, on a mediation mission alongside a team of the Economic Community of West Africa State (ECOWAS).

Jonathan disclosed this in a post on his Twitter page on Thursday.

He wrote: “I arrived Bamako this morning, the second time I will be visiting Mali with my @ecowas_cedeao team on a mediation mission in a week.

“Today, we’re being joined by five West African Heads of State who are visiting Mali to hold further consultations with Malian stakeholders.”

Recall that Jonathan had on Tuesday met President Muhammadu Buhari at the Presidential Villa.

It was gathered that the meeting might not unconnected with the recent assignment Jonathan was charged with by the ECOWAS.

ECOWAS recently appointed Dr. Jonathan to head the political reconciliation in Mali where there is leadership tussle.

Naija News report that President Buhari and other West African leaders also arrived in Bamako, the capital of Mali earlier today to find an ending solution to the political crisis in the country.

The Nigeria President is with the President Alassane Ouattara of Ivory Coast, Macky Sall of Senegal, Mahamadou Issoufou of Niger and Nana Akufo-Addo of Ghana.

The five leaders were received by Malian President Ibrahim Boubacar Keita.
