Gunmen Attack Edo Commissioner’s House, Leave Warning Note (Photos)

The residence of Hon. Damian Lawani, the Edo State Commissioner for Youths has been attacked by some unknown gunmen.

The yet to be identified gunmen who shot sporadically into the air, destroyed properties worth millions of naira and injured some of the occupants they met in the house.

The Commissioner himself was however not around when the gunmen struck the residence located at Udaba Ekphei Community, Etsako West Local Government Area of Edo state.

Crusoe Osagie, the Special Adviser on Media and Communication Strategy to Governor Godwin Obaseki, alleged that the attack on Lawani’s residence was carried out by suspected political thugs.

He said; “The gunmen, who did not meet the commissioner at home, shot sporadically at other residents, destroying belongings and leaving Lawani’s family in pains with injuries.

“The assailants, who promised to return to inflict more pains on the commissioner and his family, dropped a message with the inscription: ‘Damian Lawani, you are lucky we did not meet you at home, but we promise that we are coming back for you. If you like tighten security.”

The State Government had in a statement on Wednesday alerted the public that the former National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress, APC, Adams Oshiomhole, and a billionaire businessman had engaged thugs at a meeting held in Aiguobasimwin, GRA, Benin, to cause unrest in the state.
