Nigerians have been called on by the Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development, Sabo Nanono, to be patient with President Muhammadu Buhari-led government over insecurity in the country.
Nanono stated this while handing over a water treatment plant built by the ministry in Bukkuyum Local Government Area of Zamfara, on Thursday.
The Minister was represented by North West Zonal Director in the ministry, Olusegun Owolabi.
According to him, the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development is working with security agencies to ensure adequate security is made available for farmers.
“The Federal Government’s security agencies are working round the clock to guarantee the security of farmers everywhere in the country. Farmers are therefore encouraged to be patient with the government,” he assured.
Nanono further stated that the plant would improve good health for rural dwellers to encourage high productivity.
The Minister added that infrastructural support to farmers was not limited to the plant but includes social amenities such as solar lights, rural roads and subsidised inputs and equipment.
“The present administration in Nigeria led by President Muhammad Buhari does not only believe in farmers but interested in their well being,” he added.
The Commissioner for Water Resources in Zamfara State, Junaidu Muhammad, commended him for the project.
