President Buhari Completes 3 Major Rail Projects Inherited From Previous Administrations

The presidency has confirmed that the administration of President Muhammadu Buhari has completed three major rail projects inherited from past administrations in the country.

Bashir Ahmad, the personal assistant on new media to President Buhari made the revelation in a tweet on his Twitter account on Wednesday afternoon.

He listed the rail projects as the Abuja Metro Rail, the Abuja-Kaduna Rail, and the 327km Itakpe-Ajaokuta-Warri Rail, which started in 1987.

“The three major rail projects this Administration of President Muhammadu Buhari inherited from the previous Administrations have been completed; the Abuja Metro Rail, the Abuja-Kaduna Rail and the 327km Itakpe-Ajaokuta-Warri Rail, which started in 1987,” Bahir Ahmad said in his tweet.

It will be recalled as earlier reported by Naija News that President Buhari named the railway complex in Agbor, Delta state, southeast Nigeria, after former President of Nigeria, Goodluck Jonathan.

The Special Adviser to the President on New Media, Tolu Ogunlesi, quoted Rotimi Amaechi, the Minister of Transportation in a tweet on the micro-blogging site, Twitter, to have made the announcement on Saturday.

Ogunlesi tweeted on Saturday: “BREAKING | President @MBuhari has approved the naming of the Railway Complex in Agbor – the operational hub of #ItakpeWarriRail Line – after former President @GEJonathan. It will be known as the Goodluck Jonathan Railway Station & Complex — Minister of Transport, @ChibuikeAmaechi.”

Buhari defeated Jonathan in the 2015 presidential election in Nigeria and Jonathan made history when he conceded defeat as a sitting president and called his opponent before the official results were announced by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).
