Public Relations Officer of the Department of State Services, DSS, Dr Peter Afunanya, has said officers of the Nigerian security agency are well behaved and would not be engaged in assaulting a staff of another agency.
The National Security Organization was reacting to a recent allegation which claimed that it smacked a staff of the Federal Airport Authority of Nigeria, FAAN at the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport, Abuja.
Naija News understands that FAAN had in a statement earlier alleged that Safiyanu Abba, head of the security agency at the airport slapped an Aviation Security Officer while discharging his duty.
However, Afunanya, debunked the reports, begged citizens to do away with the claims. According to him, the DSS recognises the Airports as one of the country’s most important assets and has remained committed at protecting them as well as others.
He said, “It takes their security seriously and cannot breach it. As a strategic partner, the Service holds FAAN and its staff in good esteem.
“Both agencies have, over time, enjoyed robust working relationships in the areas of training and exchange programmes.”
He noted that the two bodies could better resolve any strive among its staffs without engaging the social media, adding that the agencies had enjoyed a relationship for a long time even in the discharge of its duties serving the nation.
In another news, the Ekiti State chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party has sympathised with the state Governor, Kayode Fayemi, over his COVID-19 status.
