2023: Thugs May Hijack Political Campaigns – DSS

Claims by the Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN) that an official of the Department of State Services (DSS) slapped an airport worker has been denied by the Service.

According to FAAN, Safiyanu Abba, head of the DSS at the Nnamdi Azikwe International Airport in Abuja, stopped an aviation officer from searching a visitor who set off a metal detector.

In a tweet today, the aviation agency said that during the incidence, Abba slapped the aviation security officer.

We note with dismay that Safiyanu Abba, the head of DSS at NAIA, deliberately obstructed airport security process, and slapped an aviation security officer who was performing his duty,” the tweet by FAAN read.

However, in a message sent to newsmen today, Peter Afunanya, DSS spokesman, has denied the allegation.

According to him, the DSS promotes cordial relations with other agencies, and prioritises good conduct among members of its staff

He added that the DSS official is well mannered, noting that he couldn’t have slapped or fought a personnel of an agency he is working with,”

The service and the DG, DSS, place premium on robust inter-agency relations needed to achieve positive outcomes in the workplace.”
