The Ohanaeze Ndigbo has boasted that an Igbo man will emerge as Nigerian President comes 2023 after President Muhamadu Buhari exits the seat of power.
According to the apex Igbo socio-cultural group in a statement released by its spokesperson, Mr Chuks Ibegbu, Nigerians would be happy should an Igbo indigene emerge victorious in 2023.
The group noted that considering the face of the nation today, an Igbo man will hopefully succeed Buhari come 2023 when his second tenure in office will finally end.
Ibegbu alleged that past leaders in the country have looted the and dried the country’s treasury, adding that Nigeria would no more have business with poverty come 2023.
“If we succeed in Igbo land, it will rub off on the rest of Nigeria and Nigerians will also be happy. Nigeria has no business with poverty. Our people need to be healthy and happy but our politicians, past and present, have looted us dry,” said Ibegbu in the statement.
The group again applauded Nnia Nwodo and South-East governors for initiating the Igbo Stabilisation Fund. According to Ohanaeze, the scheme will enhance the development of the southeast region. It, however, urged Ndigbo in the Diaspora, business magnates, scientists and entrepreneurs from the region to look inward and invest in the scheme to make Igboland the toast of the world.
“It can be done with Igbo energy. It’s possible. Igboland can be better than Dubai, California, Paris and many civilized cities. We can do it with or without external support. We want Nigerians to come to Igboland and feel very comfortable and happy and invest too.”
“We want to have a working rail, seaports, clean cities, industrial emporium, world-class health and educational facilities. We want Igbo all over the world to key into this project. We want more cities to be developed in Igbo land and abandoned cities revived,” the statement added.
Meanwhile, Governor Godwin Obaseki‘s Special Adviser on Media and Communication Strategy, Crusoe Osagie, has revealed that the former governor of the state and ex-national chairman of the All Progressives Congress, Adams Oshiomhole, is not happy with the state Governor for not allowing him to become godfather in the state.
