Kano Govt Releases Guideline For Eid-Kabir Festivals

Kano State government, under the leadership of Governor Abdullahi Ganduje, has released guidelines for the celebration of the Eid-El-Kabir festivals.

According to the resolution reached by the Kano State Executive Council, Sallah festivities will be celebrated in the state under strict observance in other to contain the Coronavirus pandemic.

The state government as part of its effort to consolidate on the successes achieved in the fight against COVID-9, noted that it forbid the traditional way of celebrating the Eid-del-Kabir this year. The council, following deliberations at its weekly meetings at Africa House, the state Government House, revealed that this year Eid congregational prayers across the state will be observed with strict compliance with COVID-19 rules, as it would be supervised by government officials.

Giving an update on the resolution of their meeting, the Kano State Commissioner for Information, Muhammad Garba, noted that the traditional way of going to the praying ground on Horses to forestall Mass gatherings will not be tolerated this year due to the pandemic.

The minister revealed that all the five Emirs in the state would go to the Eid Prayer Ground in their respective locations conveyed in motors. Also, Garba noted that the yearly visit to Shettima House, gathering for Hawan Daushe, Hawan Nassarawa among other festivities within the state has been cancelled.

He further disclosed that safety materials, including face masks and hand sanitizers, would be made available at the praying ground while social distancing will be strictly observed at the praying grounds.

Meanwhile, Naija News reported earlier that Governor Badaru Abubakar of Jigawa State has declared 2020 Eid-Il-Kabir celebration cancelled in the state.
