Nigeria’s ruling party, All Progressives Congress, APC has accused the opposition party, Peoples Democratic Party of making moves to destroy and frustrate the Forensic audit ordered by President Muhammadu Buhari on the Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC) affairs.

According to the APC, the opposition party has no interest in the president’s action to ensure the NDDC is reformed.

The ruling party in a statement released on Tuesday, July 21 through its National Publicity Secretary, Yekini Nabena, alleged that the PDP are at the moment worried over the ongoing probe of the NDDC.

He said, “Has the President Buhari administration demonstrated its zero-tolerance for corruption? An emphatic yes!”,

“One thing is clear, no vested interest will continue to turn the NDDC into an Automatic Teller Machine (ATM) while multi-faceted development eludes the Niger Delta region,” the statement added.

Nabena again alleged that the opposition party are making every possible move to see that the audit did not end well, noting that the party is “dead-scared of the outcome of 2001 to 2019 forensic audit and legislative inquests of the NDDC operations”.

He urged all institutions of government to give their maximum support the President’s moves, to entrench transparency and accountability in the country.

The party begs citizens to back the forensic audit, noting that the President Buhari’s led government means well for the Niger Delta and that the forensic audit should be considered a good move to do away with any hindrance to development in the region.

Naija News understands that the audit covers the nineteen years spent by the NDDC, which includes the first 4 years of the incumbent administration.

“The administration’s fight against corruption is total, unsparing and there are no sacred cows. Public records show that officials of past administrations, members of the opposition, APC, cabinet members, appointees, private sector among others have been given ample opportunity by this administration to defend corruption allegations when they arise” the statement added.

“The PDP’s tales of “unbridled treasury looting”, Illusionary fraud and other fictitious allegations are part of their tired, baseless and tactless attempts to get public reckoning, cover past fraud and play the role of opposition which it has shockingly failed at.”

Meanwhile, Naija News had reported earlier that the governor of Ondo State, Rotimi Akeredolu, has emerged the winner of the governorship primary election of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the southwest state.
