Eid-El-Kabir: Places Where Dhul Hijjah Crescent Was Sighted In Nigeria Today

The National Moonsighting Committee Nigeria has reported some places in Nigeria where the Dhu al-Hijjah crescent was sighted today.

According to the moonsighting committee, the Dhul Hijjah crescent which marked the twelfth and final month in the Islamic calendar was on Tuesday, July 21 sighted in the following locations in Nigeria; Abuja, Jalingo, Ilorin, Lafia, Minna and Misau.

The tweet reads; “Dhul Hijjah crescent was sighted in different locations in Nigeria this evening, some of the locations are: Abuja, Jalingo, Ilorin, Lafia, Minna and Misau. Tomorrow is the 1st day of Dhul Hijjah, the Sultanate will release an official statement inshallah.”

Naija News understands that the month is a very sacred month in the Islamic calendar, one in which the Ḥajj is observed and as well as the Festival of the Sacrifice.

Naija News recalls that Nigerian Supreme Council for Islamic Affairs (NSCIA) has called on Nigerian Muslims to look out for the new crescent of Zul-Hijjah from Tuesday, the 21st of July, 2020.
