Suspected members of Boko Haram have killed two farmers in Boftari, Kuburmbula ward of Chibok local government area of Borno state.

Naija News understands that the slain farmers were identified as Akocha Aisami and Yakubu Isuwa.

10 other farmers were also said to have sustained injuries from the gunshots from the attack.

A witness said the terrorists came on motorbikes at about 2pm on Saturday and started shooting sporadically in the area where the villagers were farming.

“We have been seeing them every day come around, and we don’t argue with them when they demand for food items,” a witness told TheCable.

“Today, about 12 of them came in through Gogombi and opened fire on those who were on the farm, killing Akocha and Yakubu who were tired and couldn’t run to save their lives.”

It was gathered that troops from the army’s 117 task force battalion immediately moved into the community and recovered the bodies of the farmers.

“The troops are trying, but the attackers had gone before they got there,” another resident said.

“You know it’s rainy season, and the road is not too good for the troops to easily move. Again, we also need more soldiers to strengthen this fight. The few on ground are already overwhelmed.”
