1. President Buhari Orders Immediate Probe Of NDDC

A speedy investigation into activities of the Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC) has been ordered by President Muhammadu Buhari.

Buhari had in October, 2019 ordered the forensic audit of the commission from its inception in 2001 till 2019.

2. Acting NDDC MD, Pondei Storms Out of Reps Meeting

Prof Kemebradikumo Pondei, acting Managing Director of Interim Management Committee (IMC) the Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC) has walked out on the House of Representatives Committee on NDDC.

Pondei who walked out with his team on Thursday stated that they were not prepared to make any presentation before the House of Reps Committee.

The acting NDDC boss had kicked against the Chairman of the Committee, Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, presiding over the investigative hearing.

3. Niger Assembly Sacks Majority, Deputy Minority Leaders

The Majority and Deputy Minority leader of the Niger State House of Assembly has been impeached by members of the house over alleged issues affecting the smooth running of the House.

The leaders of the house that were affected are Honorable Musa Suleiman, representing Magama constituency and Hon. Andrew Danjuma Jagaba, Munya constituency.

4. Court Orders EFCC To Return Saraki’s Houses

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission has been ordered by the Federal High Court sitting in Lagos State to return the properties belonging to the former Senate President, Bukola Saraki.

Justice Rilwan Aikawa, on Thursday, reversed its order forfeiting the two houses in Ilorin to the Federal Government while delivering judgment on an application by EFCC seeking to permanently forfeit the houses.

5. Yari Denies Attacking FAAN Official, Tackles Fani-Kayode

Abdulaziz Yari, a former governor of Zamfara State, has denied assaulting an official of the Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN) at the Mallam Aminu Kano International Airport.

Naija News reports that FAAN in a statement on Wednesday accused Yari of assaulting an airport officer who tried to disinfect his luggage.

FAAN said Yari pushed the official away, claiming he was a very important personality.

6. National Assembly Commission Takes Strong Action Against Clerk Who Refused To Be Sacked

The National Assembly Service Commission has told the embattled clerk of the National Assembly, Alhaji Mohammed Sani-Omolori that he can’t dictate to the commission.

The clerk was also issued a query for rejecting the commission’s directive which directed him and over 100 other staff members to proceed on retirement.

7. WTO: President Buhari Inaugurates Campaign Team For Okonjo-Iweala

President Muhammadu Buhari led administration has commissioned a campaign strategy team for Dr. Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala who is vying for the post of the next Director-General of the World Trade Organization.

Naija News understands that Nigeria’s Minister of Industry, Trade and Investment, Otunba Richard Adeniyi Adebayo, who represented the president at the launching ceremony said the setting up of a Campaign Strategy team was key in ensuring that the Nigerian candidate emerges as the Director-General of WTO.

8. Lawmakers Issue Warrant Of Arrest For NDDC Boss, Pondei

Nigerian lawmakers have called for the immediate arrest of the acting Managing Director of the Interim Management Committee (IMC) of the NDDC, Professor Kemebradikumo Pondei, who walked out on them earlier on Thursday.

Naija News reported that Pondei with his team on Thursday 16th July walked out on the lawmakers to protest against the Chairman of the Committee, Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, presiding over the investigative hearing.

9. Arotile: Why We Think NAF ‘Lied’ About Her Death – Afenifere

An investigation into the death of Tolulope Arotile, Nigerian Air Force (NAF) pilot has been called for by Afenifere, Yoruba Pan-African group.

Recall NaijaNews reported the death of Tolu, 24 yesterday after she was killed in what was described as a freak accident.

Tolu was Nigeria’s first female combatant pilot.

10. Wike Moves NDDC MD Out of Residence After Police Seige

Governor Nyesom Wike has reportedly moved the former Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC) Caretaker boss, Joy Nunieh, out of her residence.

Wike arrived at her residence in the state on Thursday morning and ordered armed policemen at Nunieh’s house out of the way.

He then proceeded to enter the house and was seen driving her off alongside his convoy.
