Mallam Garba Shehu, the senior special assistant to President Muhammadu Buhari on media and publicity has denied writing any story against Vice President Yemi Osinbajo.

The presidential spokesperson who made the clarification in a statement released on his Twitter account on Friday evening said in response to claims by an online newspaper that he doesn’t write news for the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN).

He also added that the story which claims the suspended acting Chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), Ibrahim Magu, gave N4bn to Osinbajo and another N28 million to Femi Falana (SAN) from his alleged loot was not written by the News Agency of Nigeria but by Jackson Ude.

The presidential media aide added that he knows there is always a price to pay for doing his job.

Mallam Shehu wrote: “To @SaharaReporters: I don’t write stories for the News Agency of Nigeria. NAN did not at anytime write any such rubbish against the respected Vice President. It was Jackson Ude, who the VP reported to the police who published the false allegation.

But as a Presidential spokesman, I stood in defence of the administration against the attempt by a defeated presidential candidate and digital publisher to cause the overthrow of the government elected by Nigerians. For doing my job, I know that there is a price to pay.
