Magu Dismisses Allegations Against Him, Vows To Return To EFCC

Ibrahim Magu, the suspended acting Chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), has dismissed allegations of corruption and insubordination levelled against him.

Naija News recalls that President Buhari had suspended the acting boss of the anti-graft agency and replaced him with Mohammed Umar, the EFCC Head of Operations.

Magu is currently being investigated by a presidential panel headed by Justice Ayo Salami following allegations by the Attorney General of the Federation, AGF, and Minister of Justice, Abubakar Malami.

Malami accused the former EFCC boss of corruption, insubordination, mismanagement of recovered loots among other allegations.

Speaking to the Punch through his lawyer, Wahab Shittu, Magu said allegations against him were trumped up.

Shittu said, “I have the instruction of Mr Magu to tell Nigerians that he is not against the ongoing probe.

“Mr Magu asked me to tell Nigerians that he is not against the probe. The allegations against him are trumped up. He strongly believes that his name will be cleared and he will be reinstated back to office.”

Recall that Ibrahim Magu, in a letter to the Ayo Salami-led panel, alleged that some untrue allegations were published against him while he was in detention.

Magu in his letter denied reports that some dollars and expensive jewellery and wristwatches were found in his house during a raid by security operatives.

Magu who stated that his house was during his detention maintained that nothing incriminating was found in his residence.

He also denied owning any property in Dubai or ever offering money to Vice President Yemi Osinbajo and frontline lawyer, Femi Falana.
