Governor Kayode Fayemi-led government has announced the shift in the resumption of students in graduating classes in the state from July 20 to August 3.

The development was announced by the Commissioner for Education in the state, Foluso Daramola, during a press briefing on Wednesday in Ado-Ekiti, the state capital.

The Commissioner while speaking, noted that the South-West states held a virtual meeting where each state was told to plan for resumption of school.

He said, “Pupils in primary six and students in JSS 3, SSS 3 were to resume on the new date.”

Daramola called on parents and guardians in the state to make available three face masks for their children and wards.

He noted that the state government would not provide this for students in its effort to curtail the spread of Coronavirus in schools.

According to the commissioner, any private school with two gates must close one to control movement in and out of the school.

Daramola further stated that managements of these schools must make available other materials required to contain the virus.

The Commissioner added that the state government has banned the use of schools buses by private schools to convey pupils and students to their various schools.

It noted that the decision is with respect to social distancing protocol.
