The crisis in the Peoples Democratic Party in Ondo State is on the rise after some members of the party protested against the alleged tampering of the delegates’ list ahead of the party’s governorship primary on July 22-23, 2020.

Recall that some aggrieved members of the party protected on the same issue at the venue of the party Ward Congress Electoral Committee meeting, in Akure.

The protesters who gathered at the Ondo State PDP secretariat, in Akure, accused the State Deputy Governor, Agboola Ajayi, of manipulating the delegates list.

The aggrieved PDP members further stated that the names of over 101 fake delegates were smuggled into the PDP ad hoc delegates’ list.

The protesters who were led by the former local council chairman, Solomon Bitire, called for the arrest of the electoral committee secretary, Mr Kingsley Chinda, for being an accomplice.

The Chief Press Secretary to the Deputy Governor, Tope Okeowo, while reacting to the development, noted that the allegations levelled against his boss were aimed at damaging his image.

Okeowo said, “The deputy governor is not a desperate politician, he is a lawyer and knows the rules of the game, the allegation of the protesters is nothing but falsehood against the person of the deputy governor. I can tell you it is not true.”
