Ondo: Ajayi Accuses Akeredolu Of Sponsoring Some PDP Aspirants Against Him
The governorship aspirant under the Peoples Democratic Party accused Governor Akeredolu of funding some of the aspirants within the party to purchase the party’s nomination form in order to undermine the chances of the PDP at the governorship election.
The Ondo State Governor, Rotimi Akeredolu, was on Tuesday accused by his deputy, Agboola Ajayi, of sponsoring attacks on him.
The governorship aspirant under the Peoples Democratic Party accused Governor Akeredolu of funding some of the aspirants within the party to purchase the party’s nomination form in order to undermine the chances of the PDP at the governorship election.
Ajayi further stated that the attacks against him were launched to destroy his reputation ahead of the July 22, 2020 governorship primaries of the PDP.
Naija News had earlier reported that some aggrieved members protested at the party’s secretariat following allegations that Ajayi manipulated the delegates list.
The Ondo State Deputy Governor in a statement released through his spokesperson, Allen Sowore, noted that the attacks may be connected to the “fact that the Akeredolu-led government has so far found it arduous to come out of coma and fill the gap the exit of the Deputy Governor created.”
One of the aspirants in PDP, Eddy Olafeso, while reacting to the allegation of Akeredolu sponsoring aspirants in the party said the deputy governor is entitled to his opinion.
Olafeso who reacted through his campaign team Publicity Secretary, Ayo Fadaka, said that “Our State has been terribly mismanaged by the Akeredolu/Agboola Ajayi administration and what we desire absolutely is a clean break from this ineffectual team and enthrone an administration that will be effectual in charting a new developmental agenda for our State.”
