1. Dasuki Breaks Silence On Backing APC, Tinubu, Buhari Against Jonathan

Former National Security Adviser (NSA), Col. Sambo Dasuki (rtd.), has debunked reports that he worked against ex-President Goodluck Jonathan in the 2015 presidential election.

In a statement he personally signed on Sunday, Dasuki denied working for the All Progressives Congress (APC) presidential candidate, Muhammadu Buhari.

2. Unknown To Magu, Buhari Ordered DSS To Investigate Him

President Muhammadu Buhari had in 2018 ordered the Department of State Services (DSS) to investigate the suspended chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), Ibrahim Magu.

The DSS provided a comprehensive “damning” dossier on Magu, which shocked President Buhari.

3. ISWAP Appoints Maina New Governor For Nigeria, Cameroon, Others

The Islamic State of West Africa (ISWAP) has appointed one Amir Goni Maina as its new ‘Governor of the Lake Chad’.

Naija News reports that Counter-terrorism and organised crime specialist, David Otto made this known in a document published News Express on Sunday. The Lake Chad region comprises Nigeria, Cameroon, Chad and Niger Republic.

4. WAEC: Parents Fix Date To Meet FG Over Cancelled 2020 WASSCE

Parents have expressed confusion over the statement by the Minister of Education, Adamu Adamu, saying schoolchildren in Nigeria would not sit for the West African Senior School Certificate Examination (WASSCE) slated for August 4 due to COVID-19.

Naija News recalls that the Minister of State for Education, Emeka Nwajiuba, had last Monday announced that the 2020 WASSCE conducted by WAEC would hold between August 4 and September 5.

In a statement by his media aide, Mr Ikechukwu Eze, Jonathan said with him from August 17, 2011, to May 29, 2015, when he ceased to be president.

The Presidential Committee on Audit of Recovered Assets (PCARA) currently investigating Ibrahim Magu, suspended acting chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), have alleged that he used a pastor to launder funds abroad.

Magu is currently facing a series of allegations, including not being transparent in the management of recovered loots.

Governor Rotimi Akerdolu of Ondo State had dismissed reports that he was disqualified from participating in the gubernatorial primary of the All Progressives Congress (APC).

Naija News reports that social media have been awash with speculation that Akeredolu was disqualified from the July 20 governorship primary election.

Reacting in a statement on Sunday by his spokesperson, Ojo Oyewamide, Akeredolu accused political enemies of trying to distract his supporters.

In a letter to South Africa’s President and Chairman of African Union, Cyril Ramaphosa, President Muhammadu Buhari has asked African leaders to ensure the immediate actualization of the Common African Position on Assets Recovery (CAPAR).

The controversies surrounding Ibrahim Magu, the suspended acting chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), seem to be never-ending as fresh findings are revealed on a daily basis.

NAN on Saturday obtained the Final Report of Presidential Committee on Audit of Recovered Assets (PCARA) which covered the period of May 29, 2015, to Nov. 22, 2018, were it was alleged that the former agency boss was deeply involved in the re-looting of recovered loots.

10. Security Expert Bombs Buhari, Says ‘Refusal To Sack Service Chiefs Suspicious’

A security expert, Chigozie Ubani, has berated President Muhammadu Buhari over his refusal to sack service chiefs amid the rising insecurity in Nigeria.

Naija News reports that Ubani, who is a security consultant and fellow, Institute of Security, Nigeria, said the resurgence in banditry in the North, the other insecurity issues in the country and President Buhari’s refusal to sack service chiefs is suspicious.
