Ogun State Police Command disclosed that it has arrested a man identified as Badmus Folarin, for allegedly inflicting severe injuries on a young male child who leaves with the family.

It was reported that the man who resides in Owode area of the State had tortured the child and again used a heated kitchen knife on his buttocks.

Confirming the incident, the Spokesman to the State Police Command, Mr Abimbola Oyeyemi, in a statement which copy was made available to newsmen yesterday disclosed that Folarin was arrested following a distress call to the state Divisional Police Officer by residents that a young boy is crying out loudly for help in an apartment.

Oyeyemi explained that the man had used a hot knife on the young child whose name is given as Sunday David, leaving him with burns on his buttocks.

“Some concerned neighbours had reported through a telephone call to the DPO, of Owode Egbado division, SP Olabisi Elebutte that they were hearing a sorrowful crying of a young boy at 12, Elegushi Street, Owode Yewa,” Oyeyemi revealed.

“Consequent upon this, the DPO detailed the patrol team to the scene where the young boy was seen lying down helplessly with serious injuries all over his body,” Daily Post quoted Oyeyemi saying.

The PPRO explained further that “the suspect put a knife on fire and when the knife was red-hot, he applied it to the buttock of the young boy thereby inflicting a second-degree injury on the innocent boy.”

Confessing to the crime, Folarin after his arrest told the police command that he punished Sunday because he opened a tin of Milo tea belonging to his mother and licked from it.

Naija News, however, learnt that the boy had already been taken to Ore-Ofe hospital by the police command for treatment while the culprit was detained.

Oyeyemi confirmed that Folarin will further be transferred to the Anti-Human and Anti-Child Labour Unit of the command for more investigations and possible prosecution as ordered by the State Commissioner of Police, CP Kenneth Ebrimson.

In another news, the Islamic State of West Africa (ISWAP) has appointed one Amir Goni Maina as its new ‘Governor of the Lake Chad, Naija News reports.
