EFCC: Magu Raises 10 Questions Presidential Panel Must Answer

Some unknown individuals have broken into the office of the Nigeria Financial Intelligence Unit (NFIU) and destroyed computers containing evidence against the suspended chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), Ibrahim Magu.

Naija News reports that this is a plot to frustrate Magu’s probe by the Justice Ayo Salami-led presidential panel.

Some officials of the NFIU had appeared before the panel were they reportedly told the panel that by operational protocols, they don’t go about with sensitive documents.

The officials then advised members of the panel to visit their office Friday morning, to sight the documents requested for.

According to ThisDay, the NFIU office was burgled, with at least seven computers containing sensitive financial information taken away and others destroyed.

Recall that the NFIU was only recently severed from the EFCC and it was the agency that investigated all the allegations of financial malfeasance against Magu.

Following the incident, the Director-General of NFIU, Mr. Modibbo Hamman-Tukur, met with President Muhammadu Buhari to report the incident, a situation sources said, resulted in the president’s decision to approve Magu’s suspension and reshuffling of police operatives attached to the EFCC and Magu.
