Some yet to be identified gunmen reportedly raided a community in Ekiti State on Friday night, went away with three persons.

According to the report which was confirmed to newsmen by the State Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Sunday Abutu, the gunmen suspected to be kidnappers invaded the Isinbode community in Ekiti East Local Government Area shooting sporadically, and abduct three people.

Also confirming the report, an eyewitness told reporters that the terrifying gunmen attacked the Sawmill located along Isinbode-Ode road, sent away workers with gunfire, seized their belongings and went away with two persons from the scene.

The source further revealed that following the Sawmill attack, the masked gunmen ambushed a Hilux Van understood to be conveying a top government official in the state, damaged the van with gunfire and again kidnapped one person from the scene.

“The hoodlums stormed a sawmill in the area where they dispossessed traders and workers of their money and valuables while two persons, a man and a woman were abducted,” Daily Post quoted the source saying.

He added, “While the criminals were fleeing the community, a Hilux van conveying a senior officer of a government agency was attacked in which the driver was shot. The driver of the Hilux was hit by bullets forcing him to wait on the highway. This led to the kidnap of the unknown top government’s functionary”.

On his part, PPRO Abutu disclosed that one of the abductors had successfully escaped from the attack. He noted that a senior civil servant and one other person if still remaining with the abductors as and when the report was given.

He, however, ensures that the force has already launched hunt on the abductors in other to apprehend them and as well rescue the remaining two. Naija News learnt also that the driver of the van shot has been rushed to a nearby hospital where he is currently receiving medical attention.

This was coming a day after Naija News reported that unknown gunmen have shot dead two persons, including a naval officer, on Okene-Lokoja road in Kogi state.
