Gunmen Kill Naval Officer In Kogi

Unknown gunmen have shot dead two persons, including a naval officer, on Okene-Lokoja road in Kogi state.

Confirming the incident, Ayuba Ede, the state commissioner of police, said the officer and a woman were travelling in a Toyota Sienna car when they were shot at around 6 pm.

The police commissioner told NAN that the naval officer was in uniform and the woman was in mufti.

According to Ayuba Ede, an investigation had commenced and officers had arrived at the scene of the incident.

He said: “Yes, I heard about it and I have dispatched my men there to bring me the details of how and when it happened.”

The incident comes four days after G.S.M. Abubakar, an army captain, was shot dead on the same route.
