House Minority Leader, Elumelu, Test Negative For COVID-19

House Minority Leader Ndudi Elumelu and his family members have tested negative for the deadly coronavirus (COVID-19).

In a statement on Wednesday, the lawmaker revealed that his domestic staff also tested negative for the virus.

Hon. Elumelu urged members of the National Assembly to go for COVID- 19 test over fear of possible mass infection among lawmakers.

He said: “I, Hon Ndudi Elumelu, Minority Leader House of Representatives, did another Covid-19 test on Friday 3rd of July with my family and other 11 domestic staff, and am happy to announce that the results came out negative.

“I urge every member and staff of the National Assembly to do same.”

Recall that there were speculations that over 50 lawmakers might have contracted COVID-19 and chose to hide their status.

Naija News reports that the Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC) has reported fresh 503 cases of Coronavirus in Nigeria.

According to the NCDC, of the four hundred and fifty-four new coronavirus cases recorded on Sunday evening, 153 were recorded in Lagos, Nigeria’s commercial city, Ondo-76 Edo-54 FCT-41 Enugu-37 Rivers-30 Benue-24 Osun-20 Kaduna-15 Kwara-13 Abia-9 Borno-8 Plateau-6 Taraba-5 Ogun-3 Kano-3 Kebbi-2 Nasarawa-2 Bayelsa-1 Gombe-1, northern Nigeria.

The NCDC tweeted: 503 new cases of COVID19Nigeria; Lagos-153 Ondo-76 Edo-54 FCT-41 Enugu-37 Rivers-30 Benue-24 Osun-20 Kaduna-15 Kwara-13 Abia-9 Borno-8 Plateau-6 Taraba-5 Ogun-3 Kano-3 Kebbi-2 Nasarawa-2 Bayelsa-1 Gombe-1 29,879 confirmed 12,108 discharged 669 deaths,” the tweet added.
