Domestic Flights Resumption: What Happened Today At The Airports, See Photos

The much anticipated day for the resumption of domestic flight activities in Nigeria was today, and Naija News has monitored the resumption, as well as reactions to the price hike, as a result of the COVID-19 Pandemic.

In Murtala Mohammed Airport, Lagos and Nnamdi Azikwe International Airport in Abuja reopening after months of lockdown was not without a great cost.

Naija News learnt that only a few airlines could open today.

They include; Air Peace, Arik Air, Ibom Air and Max Air

Ticket prices have been hiked

One of the attendant at the ticket point of Air Peace, confirmed that Air peace economy ticket for a 4pm flight to Lagos was for N33,000, the business ticket was for N90,000

Next, we learnt that Max Air’s economy class goes for N33,000, but for its business class the price was N65,000.

Strict measures have also been put in place to ensure social-distancing guidelines.

Guidelines

Contrarily to the dictates, and guidelines given by the Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN), some non-travellers were allowed into the terminal building.

However, those without nose masks, even though they had face shield on, were turned back at the entrance.

Also, for about two hours, only few passengers arrived to be checked in at the airports, as those who were travelling had their luggage decontaminated.

Hand sanitizers were strategically located also, and passengers were made to compulsorily use them.

Screening for high temperature, a major symptom of COVID-19, was also being done while signs were indicated on the floor at strategic points to enforce social distancing.
