NCDC Reports 503 Cases Of Coronavirus In Nigeria, Breakdown Of Cases By State

The Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC) has reported fresh 503 cases of Coronavirus in Nigeria.

Naija News reports that the NCDC confirmed the new 503 cases of Coronavirus in Nigeria in a series of tweets on the micro-blogging site, Twitter on Tuesday evening, July 7.

According to the NCDC, of the four hundred and fifty-four new coronavirus cases recorded on Sunday evening, 153 were recorded in Lagos, Nigeria’s commercial cityOndo-76 Edo-54 FCT-41 Enugu-37 Rivers-30 Benue-24 Osun-20 Kaduna-15 Kwara-13 Abia-9 Borno-8 Plateau-6 Taraba-5 Ogun-3 Kano-3 Kebbi-2 Nasarawa-2 Bayelsa-1 Gombe-1, northern Nigeria.

The NCDC tweeted: 503 new cases of COVID19Nigeria; Lagos-153 Ondo-76 Edo-54 FCT-41 Enugu-37 Rivers-30 Benue-24 Osun-20 Kaduna-15 Kwara-13 Abia-9 Borno-8 Plateau-6 Taraba-5 Ogun-3 Kano-3 Kebbi-2 Nasarawa-2 Bayelsa-1 Gombe-1 29,879 confirmed 12,108 discharged 669 deaths,” the tweet added.

Kwara Govt Confirms Chief Of Staff To Governor Died Of COVID-19

The Kwara State government has confirmed the death of Aminu Adisa Logun, the Chief of Staff to the Kwara State Governor, Abdulrazaq Abdulrahman.

The State government announced in a press release on Tuesday evening that Logun died from COVID-19 complications, few hours after his test result returned positive.

The statement described the death of the top official as a huge loss and prayed God to give the family the fortitude to bear the loss.

The Governor also declared a seven-day mourning in honour of the late Chief of Staff.

COVID-19: Churches Continued Closure Unacceptable – CAN

Rev Samson Ayokunle, the President of the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN), has described as unacceptable and unjustifiable the continued closure of churches due to coronavirus (COVID-19).

In a statement on Tuesday by his spokesperson, Bayo Oladeji, Rev Ayokunle asked state governments to reopen churches.

He stated that states like Lagos and Ogun have disobeyed the directive of the Presidential Task Force on COVID-19 to allow worship places to reopen.

The CAN president said with the reopening of the economy, some markets, airports and schools, the continued closure of churches must be brought to an end.

“Is it not our members in the places of worship that go to markets and other sectors? Is it that people cannot contract the virus in the markets and airports?” he asked.
