The Appeal Panel of the Peoples Democratic Party for the Ondo State governorship election has cleared, Prince Godday Erewa to contest in the party’s governorship primary.

The PDP panel cleared Erewa on Monday during its meeting at the national secretariat in Abuja, it also fixed July 22 for its primary election.

The panel set up by the opposition party is chaired by Gyang Istifanus Dung, with Uzoma Abonta as secretary.

Other people in the committee are Dayo Ogungbenro, Austine Umahi, Dan Orbih, G. T. Kataps, Theophilus Daka Shan, Ibrahim Kazaure, Kola Balogun, Bolanle Ogundiran, Rimafe Swawulu, Hajiya Hassana Diko, and Christine Akpan.

Erewa while speaking on the development appreciated the panel for treating his petition with fairness.

He noted that they “exhibited a high level of sincerity by allowing justice to prevail.”

The aspirant promised to “drive the desired change by creating new opportunities and platforms that would galvanize the state and place it on a steady path to sustainable socio-economic development.”

Recall that the screening committee of the party chaired by the former Speaker of the House of Representative, Yakubu Dogara, disqualified two of the nine aspirants, however, with Erewa’s clearance, the party now has eight aspirants jostling to become the flagbearer.
