COVID-19: Why Fresh Lockdown Orders Must Be Declared Soon – PTF

The rising cases of COVID-19 may lead to a declaration of fresh lockdown orders again, the Presidential Tasks Force has said.

Speaking during its press briefing yesterday, its chairman, who is also secretary to the government of the Federation, Boss Mustapha, lamented that the cases were increasing as a result of the disregard people are having for the guidelines

Mustapha noted that events in the coming weeks would determine the next line of action.

He said, “We will not speculate on what will happen in future but we will protect the lives of Nigerians.

“To achieve that, if it means to lock down again, we will not shy away from that responsibility. We will recommend to the President who will look at the report and take a decision on our recommendation. What happens in the next two three weeks will determine what we will do.”

Mustapha further noted that the force met with heads of security agencies earlier on Monday.

He said they discussed with the security agencies, how to enforce people’s compliance with the lockdown orders.

Meanwhile, the PTF has also lamented the increasing rate at which government officials are contracting the COVID-19 , saying that it has a direct impact on people in the government and the security in the country.

Through its Chairman, Boss Mustapha, who stated that the virus is no respecter of persons, has discussed what the PTF plans to do.
