Naija News understands that the panel is reportedly sitting at the Banquet Hall wing of the Presidential Villa.
A report monitored on The Nation by this online news platform claimed that the embattled EFCC Chairman was stopped in traffic while moving out of the Wuse II Annex of the EFCC in Abuja and the invitation was extended to him.
Magu arrived at the Presidential Villa at about 1: 35 pm where he was ushered into the wing and was later joined by his lawyer Mr. Rotimi Jacobs.
A source said: “Both Magu and Jacobs are now in an office in the Banquet Wing of the Vila.
“He has not been arrested by any of the security agencies. We are awaiting further development. “
Naija News recalls that the Attorney General of the Federation and Minister of Justice, Abubakar Malami (SAN) had asked President Muhammadu Buhari to sack Magu.
Malami in a petition forwarded to President Buhari listed 22 weighty allegations against Magu to justify the recommendation of his sack from office.
Three high profile candidates were also included in the AGF’s petition to the president as a replacement for Magu.
The push by Malami is also understood to have been brought to the attention of Magu by his supporters within the presidency, prompting the EFCC boss to start setting up his own defense mechanisms as well.
Malami in his petition to the President, listed several grounds “raging from diversion of recovered loot to insubordination and misconduct” as reported by THISDAY.
However, Magu’s supporters within the Presidency are of the opinion that “removing Magu at this time when he has given muscle to Buhari’s anti-corruption fight would be a mistake.”
