Presidential Tribunal: INEC Closes Case Against Peter Obi

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has revealed that political parties can begin their campaigns ahead of the Edo governorship election.

Naija News reports that the gubernatorial election is scheduled for September 19, 2020.

Speaking to NAN, INEC Head of Voter Education in Edo, Timidi Wariowei, said campaigns officially commenced on June 21.

“Campaigns have officially started in the state. Campaigns starts 90 days to election and it started on June 21,” he said.

Speaking further, Wariowei disclosed that some non-sensitive materials have been distributed to the 18 local government areas of the state.

He stated that the materials were distributed early because the INEC office in Edo has a small storage capacity.

“The storage facility cannot accommodate all the materials, so as the materials come we dispatch to our local government offices.

“The non-sensitive materials we have received so far are not complete so as they come in batches we distribute because of lack of space to keep them,” he said.

He revealed that the total registered voters in the state stand at 2,210,534, while uncollected PVCs stand at 483,868.
