1. NCDC Reports 454 Cases Of Coronavirus In Nigeria, Breakdown Of Cases By State

The Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC) has reported fresh 454 cases of Coronavirus in Nigeria. Naija News reports that the NCDC confirmed the new 454 cases of Coronavirus in Nigeria in a series of tweets on the micro-blogging site, Twitter on Friday evening, July 3.

2. Police Arrest Ebonyi NUJ Chairman, Nwizi

The Chairman of the Nigeria Union of Journalists, in Ebonyi State, Tony Nwizi, has been arrested by police operatives in the state. According to the Nation, Nwizi was arrested following the orders of the Inspector General of Police, Mohammed Adamu.

3. Hushpuppi: Why EFCC Must Probe Atiku, Saraki, Dino Melaye – APC

The All Progressives Congress (APC) has called on the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) to investigate some members of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) over their links to arrested fraudster Ramon Igbalode Abbas popularly known as Ray Hushpuppi. The ruling APC made the call on Saturday in a statement by its Deputy National Publicity Secretary, Yekini Nabena.

4. Abia State Governor, Ikpeazu Recovers From Coronavirus

Abia State Governor, Okezie Ikpeazu, has recovered from the deadly Coronavirus. The development was revealed in a statement released by the State Government on Saturday. The commissioner for information in the state, John Kalu, noted that the governor’s samples which were tested on Thursday returned negative on Friday.

5. Edo 2020: Wike Will Lead PDP To Victory – Atiku

The Presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party, Atiku Abubakar, has noted that the Governor of Rivers State, Nyesom Wike, is capable of leading the party to victory at the Edo State governorship election. Recall that the party’s National Working Committee on Friday appointed Governor Wike as the Chairman, Edo State Governorship Election National Campaign Council.

6. Ebonyi Governor, Umahi Contracts Coronavirus

Governor Dave Umahi of Ebonyi State has tested positive for the deadly coronavirus (COVID-19). In a statement he personally signed, Governor Umahi disclosed that he is asymptotic and has since isolated himself in line with protocols by the Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC).

7. Femi Falana Disassociate Self From Newly Formed Political Group

A Human rights lawyer, Femi Falana (SAN), has disassociated himself from the newly formed political group, National Consultative Forum. A statement which was released on Wednesday revealed that the political group was created by thirty prominent Nigerian activists, professionals and academics, with the aim of mobilising Nigerians ahead of the 2023 general elections.

8. NYSC Issues Obaseki New Certificate As INEC Displays Credentials

The National Youth Service Corps has issued a new discharged certificate to the governorship candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party in the September 19 election in Edo State, Godwin Obaseki. Recall that the All Progressives Congress disqualified Governor Obaseki from contesting in the party’s primary due to issues relating to certificate.

9. Ogun: Gov Abiodun Extends COVID-19 Lockdown

Governor Dapo Abiodun of Ogun State has extended the lockdown of worship centres and schools for another two weeks to curb the spread of the deadly coronavirus (COVID-19). In a statement on Friday by his Chief Press Secretary, Kunle Somorin, Governor Abiodun said available data shows the end of the virus is not close.
