The government and people of Botswana have been faced with a rude shock over the mysterious deaths of 350 elephants in the Okavango Delta and other northern parts of the country.

The first sets of death were recorded in May when 169 elephants died in a short period at the Okavango Delta, a marshy and lush wildlife habitat.

The figures has more than doubled since that then.

At the time of this report, it isn’t yet known what the causes of the deaths are, as the  Botswana’s government are yet to test the animal’s bodies for traces of poison or pathogens, however Anthrax has been ruled out – Cyanide poisoning has previously been used by poachers in Zimbabwe
