Gunmen Attack Customs Officers Near Navy Base In Abia

The Federal Medical Centre, FMC, in Lokoja, Kogi state, has reportedly been attacked by unknown armed men.

Reports reaching Naija News at this time confirmed that the yet to be identified gunmen attacked the FMC on Wednesday morning and disrupted a COVID-19 press conference held in the state capital.

It was reported that the hospital had scheduled a press conference for the day to request for a COVID-19 screening centre in the state and as well to address challenges faced by health workers amid the pandemic.

Naija News learnt that the gunmen arrived at the centre in three cars shooting sporadically to scare away people present at the conference.

According to the report, some of the health workers were harassed, while the gunmen also went away with laptops and some other vital documents.

However, no statement has yet been made by the state police command as at the time this report is given.

Meanwhile, Kogi State Governor, Yahaya Bello has urged residents in the state not to give in to fear of dreaded Coronavirus pandemic, Naija News reports.
