President Buhari To Confer Award On Wike Amidst PDP Crisis

The Governor of Rivers State, Nyesom Wike has rubbished claims that he is planning to dump the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) for the All Progressives Congress (APC).

Wike in his submission described those peddling rumours of his planned defection as those who have nothing to do.

Naija News reports that people had started suggesting Wike might be plotting to join the APC following an advertorial in some national dailies in which he appreciated President Muhammadu Buhari for approving the repayment of N78.9billion as funds spent by Rivers State on federal roads.

The Governor also used the occasion to invite the President to visit Rivers State and see the projects been executed by his administration.

This prompted some people to claim the Governor might be nursing secret ambitions to join the APC.

However, in his reaction to the rumours, Wike on Wednesday, denied any plan to join the All Progressives Congress.

Wike, a known critic of President Buhari and the APC, while featuring on an AIT live programme denied any plans to join the APC.

In his words, “You know what I went through to win my second term. What else will I need to join APC for, is it to get a ticket for a third term or to get a presidential ticket?”

“You know when people don’t have anything to do, they go on social media to say all sorts of things,” he said.

Meanwhile, it will be recalled Wike recently fell out with PDP leaders over the reconciliation works in Edo State, going ahead to describe them as ‘tax collectors’ who care less about the welfare of their followers and supporters.
