774,000 Jobs: NASS Leadership Keeps Mute As Keyamo Accuses Lawmakers Of Plot To Control Scheme

The leadership of the National Assembly is yet to react to the alleged accusation raised against some lawmakers by the Minister of State for labour and employment, Festus Keyamo.

Naija News recalls that members of the Nigerian Senate on Tuesday engaged in a war of words with the Minister of State for labour and employment, Festus Keyamo over the planned recruitment of 774,000 Nigerians.

Keyamo who was furiously angry after the meeting with the lawmakers accused them of plotting to control the scheme. He said they suggested that they ought to have an input on how the programme should be implemented.

In a statement he personally signed shortly after the disagreement, Keyamo insisted that the lawmakers were not empowered by the nation’s Constitution to dictate to the executive arm of government.

He said:

“After I left, I understand that the Joint Committees purportedly suspended the work of the Selection Committees nationwide until they decide how the programme should be run and who should be in those Committees. My opinion is that it is tantamount to challenging the powers of Mr President.

However, in order to get the reaction of the National assembly leadership on the alleged report, Naija News reporter called and sent messages to the spokesman of the Senate, Honourable  Godiya Akwashika but all efforts were futile.
