Rape: Police Arrests Two Men For Impregnating, Defiling Daughters In Lagos

Lagos State Command of the Nigeria Police Force (NPF) has confirmed the arrest of two men in different locations for sexually assaulting their daughters.

According to the report which was confirmed in a statement made available to media a moment ago, the force apprehended a man at his apartment in Ikorodu following pieces of information that confirmed that a man had his own daughter pregnant for him.

The state Police Public Relations Officer, Bala Elkana who confirmed the report revealed that a man identified as Eke Kanu, has been arrested for sleeping with his daughter till she conceived for him.

Naija News learnt that the father after discovering the young girl was pregnant, took her to a medical store to some get pills so he could abort the pregnancy.

Speaking on the development yesterday, Elkana disclosed that the man has been arrested for his condemnable and cruel action while the victim was taken to the Mirabel Centre for a proper check-up. He added that the command’s Criminal Investigation and Intelligence Department had commenced an investigation into the matter.

“On June 12, 2020, around 3.30 pm, the Ikorodu Police Station received a complaint from a member of the FIDA that one Eke Kanu, 61, of Ebute Road, Igbogbo, Ikorodu, was having unlawful sexual intercourse with his 19-year-old daughter without her consent,” Elkana revealed.

He added, “The victim stated that her father started having sexual intercourse with her when she was young and threatened to deal with her if she told anybody about it. She further stated that when her father discovered that she was pregnant, he took her to a chemist, where she was given some drugs and an injection to terminate the pregnancy. The victim has been taken to the Mirabel Centre by the police for medical attention and forensic examination.

“The suspect was arrested and taken to the State Criminal Investigation and Intelligence Department, Panti, for discreet investigation and diligent prosecution.”

Also, the command reportedly apprehended a man identified as Mr Chibuike Kalu, a residence of Bariga area in Lagos State for sexual violation of his 14-year-old daughter.

The PPRO noted that the victim whose name is withheld had been taken to hospital for examination, while her father would be charged for the crime committed.

“On June 26, 2020, around 7.30 pm, the Bariga Police Station received a report that one Chibuike Kalu, 33, of Amodu Street, Bariga, defiled his 14-year-old daughter. The victim was taken to the Mirabel Centre for medical treatment and forensic examination,” Elkana revealed.

“The suspect was arrested and he confessed to the crime. He will be charged.”

Meanwhile, Naija News had reported earlier that a 35-year-old pastor, Nnamso Friday Jacob has been picked up by the Nigerian police force for reportedly having canal knowledge of  a16-year-old girl inside his church.
