The Inspector-General of Police, Mohammed Adamu has reportedly ordered the restoration of the security details of Agboola Ajayi, the Deputy Governor of Ondo State.

It will be recalled as previously reported by Naija News that the Deputy Governor of Ondo State, Agboola Ajayi had raised an alarm over the withdrawal of his police escorts which he said has put his life, family, and staff in danger.

The Deputy Governor also alleged that the withdrawal of his police escort was done on the order of the State Commissioner of Police, Mr Bolaji Salami.

Reacting to the claims, however, Mr. Salami debunked the report of withdrawing the security details attached to the Deputy Governor.

The Police Commissioner who denied the allegation, added that only the Inspector General of Police can post and withdraw security details attached to Deputy Governors.

In the latest development which is said to be associated with the political saga in Ondo State, the IGP has directed the Ondo State Commissioner of Police to restore the Deputy Governor’s security details with immediate effect.

The directive was contained in a letter issued to the Ondo Police Commissioner through the Deputy Inspector General of Police, Department of Operations, Force Headquarters Abuja as obtained by Sahara Reporters on Monday morning.

The letter with Ref. No CB: 2002/DOPS/FHQ/ABJ/VOL/77/168 was signed on behalf of the IGP by Mr Austine Agbonlahor, Assistant Inspector-General of Police.

Mr. Ajayi is understood to be in a running battle with the State Governor, Rotimi Akeredolu which recently resulted in his dumping the All Progressives Congress for the Peoples Democratic Party.

Despite his defection, the Deputy Governor has said he won’t resign his position.
