Gabajabiamila Dragged To Court As Group Demands Payment Receipt Of The Cars Bought For Nigerian Lawmakers

A non-governmental organisation under the aegis of Incorporated Trustees of Kingdom Human Rights Foundation International has dragged the speaker of the house of representatives, Femi Gbajabiamila and all the lawmakers at the lower chamber of the National Assembly over the purchase of 400 Toyota Camry 2020 model cars.

A non-governmental organisation under the aegis of Incorporated Trustees of Kingdom Human Rights Foundation International has dragged the speaker of the house of representatives, Femi Gbajabiamila and all the lawmakers at the lower chamber of the National Assembly over the purchase of 400 Toyota Camry 2020 model cars.

The NGO in a suit marked NO: FHC/ABJ/CS/420/2020 seeking to compel the Speaker of the House of Representatives to make available to it, the contract papers for the supply of the 400 Toyota Camry 2020 model cars to ensure accountability, due process and in support of the fight against corruption by the Buhari administration.

The NGO also among other prayers asked the court to compel the speaker to release the evidence of payment and bank transaction for the supply of the 400 2020 Toyota Camry cars between the House of Representatives and the company supplying the cars indicating the actual cost for each of the 400 cars.

Cited as 1st to 3rd defendants in the suit were, Speaker of the House of Representatives, Clerk of the House of Representatives and, National Assembly Service Commission.

However, Justice I.E Ekwo while giving his verdict on the request of the NGO asked the Speaker and Clerk of the House of Representatives, as well as the National Assembly Service Commission release the entire contract documents of the purchased 400 Toyota Camry 2020 model cars.
